First Kerry free wrote about issues and ideas that she cares about in her writing notebook. Then she picked one of those ideas and developed a thesis statement. Once she had that, she planned out “boxes and bullets” (thesis and supports). This is Kerry’s draft that she wrote on looseleaf, with one supporting paragraph on each sheet of paper to help with organization.
Since Kerry teaches younger kids, she took her essay, and made a primary grade version of it in a booklet!
